The Story

This trompe l’oeil mural imagines an artist asleep beside his unfinished work while dreaming about Cattle Days in Hidden Valley in Joshua Tree National Park. A rodeo bull named Valentine appears beside the scaffolding as though he has stepped out of the historical scene; the brochure notes that Valentine bears the McHaney brand. A patient vulture waits overhead, extending the illusion between painted story and real wall.
