The Oasis of Murals Legacy Project
What began as an effort to write an original song inspired by each mural has grown into a larger preservation project.
The goal is to reconstruct the history of the Oasis of Murals, document every mural past and present, preserve firsthand memories and surviving records, tell the stories behind the art, and create a modern home where that history can remain accessible.
History, Memory & Music
The project will combine documented history, oral history, photography, archival material, and original music. Each mural is intended eventually to have not only a researched story but an original song inspired by the people, place, or event it depicts.
This is an independent historical preservation project and is not presented as the official website of Action 29 Palms or the City of Twentynine Palms.
